Hurricane Harvey - Monkey Joe’s is Open for Business!

Posted on Sep 08, 2017

As we take stock of the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, we at Monkey Joe’s in Katy, TX want to help our little monkeys while schools are dealing with flooding and closures. Check out the Katy ISD’s FAQ page--it has information about closures, displacement resources, school relocation, bussing, and free breakfasts and lunches for students.

The Katy Branch of the Harris County Public Library is open right now. Your local library can help parents find information and resources, either with the help of a librarian or on your own through their internet access, and kids can have a safe, comfortable place to relax. It’s also a good idea to encourage kids to get reading while school isn’t in session. Talk to your librarian for suggestions based on age, reading level, and interests. Monkey Joe’s will be hosting a reading contest soon, so get started now and watch this space for more information!

While you’re waiting for school to start again, remember that Monkey Joe’s is also open if kids need a safe place to play and work off excess energy! We’re safe, clean, and fun, and we have free wifi for parents. Not only that, but active play has been linked to decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression. Our upcoming birthday celebration on September 17th is a great time to visit for discounted admission. And don’t forget that we’re a great place to host fundraisers for schools, PTO/PTAs, and booster clubs who may need additional help.

Remember, community resources are there to help. When you’re ready for fun, swing down for a day in the Jungle at Monkey Joe’s in Katy!
