Physical Fitness Tips for Kids

Posted on May 16, 2016

May is Physical Fitness and Sports Month, so it's a good time to think about whether or not your kids are getting the exercise they need, and to find solutions to help them stay active! At Monkey Joe's, we're proud to provide families in Winter Park, Florida with a safe, clean indoor environment where kids can enjoy active play. Read on for some tips on keeping your little monkeys moving.

60 minutes per day

According to experts, kids need at least 60 minutes of vigorous exercise every day. However, while adults tend to think of "vigorous exercise" as a run on the treadmill or slogging along on a stairmaster, it doesn't have to be that structured. Anything that gets kids running, jumping, or moving at speed can contribute to their daily hour of exercise, from playing tag in the backyard to jumping in a bounce house.

Find what they like

If your child doesn't like team sports, that's OK--but that doesn't mean they have to be sedentary. Help your child find fun, physical activities they enjoy, from roller skating to rock climbing to dance.

Make it fun and social

Everything's more fun with friends! Set up playdates for your child and a friend to do something physically active. Monkey Joe's is a great place for playdates in Winter Park. Our indoor playground encourages kids to climb, bounce, slide, and run wild for hours of active, freeform playtime.
