Fit Kid Tips for a Healthy Summer

Posted on Jun 16, 2016

Summer is here, and kids are ready to kick back and take it easy! While it's important to relax and have fun after a busy school year, it's all too easy for kids to spend a sedentary summer on the couch. Read on for some tips to keep your kids healthy and active during summer. Keep in mind that staying active doesn’t necessarily mean spending most of their summer outdoors, especially since it gets so hot here in Winter Park.

Set a good example

One of the best ways to show your kids the importance of regular exercise is by doing it yourself. Whether you go for walks or do a workout at home, your kids will get to see you setting a good example for them. They’re also more likely to join in so they can spend time with you, which helps ensure that they get regular exercise, too.

Think beyond traditional sports

If your kids don’t show much interest in playing soccer or other sports, think of alternative activities that they’ll enjoy. Take them swimming or put on some music every day and let them burn off energy by dancing. The more fun they have, the more they’ll be willing to stay active.

Choose fun and exciting activities

Indoor playgrounds offer an ideal place for kids to go when it’s raining or too hot to go outside. Bring your kids to Monkey Joe’s in Winter Park, and they’ll be able to run around for hours in an exciting yet safe environment. The inflatables and other activities at our indoor playground let kids get a good cardio workout while having fun.

Schedule time for exercise

Set aside time each day for your kids to exercise. This helps ensure that they stay active for a certain amount of time every day. Whether they’re playing in the yard or enjoying local kids’ activities in Winter Park, they’ll be staying fit and healthy this summer.
