Posted on Aug 05, 2016

It's hard to believe that the summer is almost over and kids in Orange County schools will be heading back to class in just a couple of weeks! While the back to school hubbub is exciting, it can also be a bittersweet time as kids lament the end of their summer freedom. If you're looking for ways to help your kids end the summer with a smile, read on for some of our back to school tips!

Make time for fun

If your kids are sad to see summer coming to an end, make the most of their final days of freedom by going on some family outings or planning fun activities. Monkey Joe's is a great place to bring your kids where they can run wild and play to their heart's content for hours on end. Have a family fun night complete with a pizza dinner from our concessions and be sure to take some selfies to remember the occasion!

Focus on the positive

If your kids are anxious about school or sad about the end of summer, try to help them focus on the positive. Make a list together of your favorite memories from the summer, then make a list of what you're excited about for the upcoming school year. Acknowledging all of the fun things that happened and looking forward to making new friends, learning new things, etc. will help your child get excited for the new academic year.

Get plenty of exercise

Exercise doesn't just improve physical health, it's also an important aspect of mental wellness for both kids and adults. If your child is dealing with anxiety about the first day of school, getting physically active can help to calm those nerves. Kids should get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, whether that's playing an organized sport, taking a family walk around the neighborhood, playing at our indoor playground, or some combination of activities.
