Monkey Joe’s Westheimer Is Giving Back in June

Posted on May 19, 2016

At Monkey Joe’s Westheimer in Houston Texas, we are always looking for ways to pay it forward, and give back to our local community. We have a great opportunity to do just that coming up in June with our participation the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Working with children is a joy and honor we get to experience every day, so being able to help this foundation raise funds to help fund research for childhood cancer is an amazing opportunity. Here are three things you should know about Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

1. It was started by a 4-year-old-Alexandra “Alex” Scott was born in January 1996. Just before her first birthday, she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. After undergoing two surgeries, her tumors began to grow again. She underwent a stem cell transplant and told her mother that she wanted to have a lemonade stand to raise money for medical research on childhood cancer. The first stand raised $2,000.00, which she donated to “her hospital.”

2. She left a legacy- Alex Scott lost her battle with cancer at the age of eight, but her legacy lives on through her foundation. People across the country continue to hold lemonade stands to raise money for childhood cancer annually.

3. How can I help- Monkey Joe’s Westheimer, along with several other Monkey Joe’s locations are participating in this fundraiser. Come by during the month of June to participating Monkey Joe’s locations, especially during the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Days on June 10, 11, and 12th to support this great cause.
