Monkey Joe’s Gives Back for Harvey Relief

Posted on Sep 12, 2017

By now you’ve probably heard a lot about Hurricane Harvey on the news. Thousands of people and animals  in the greater Houston area and beyond are homeless due to flooding and incredible rainfall. Here at Monkey Joe’s Waukesha, we believe in giving back, so we’re hosting a fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey relief.

All through the month of September, we will be collecting donations at our Waukesha location. At the end of the month, Monkey Joe’s will match every donation 100% before we donate it to the Red Cross to help in relief efforts. This doubles your donations, and since large donations are usually easier and cheaper for non-profit organizations to process, it makes them that much more effective in the long run.

How much can we raise between our three locations in less than a month? We know that our Monkey Joe’s patrons are generous, caring people--last year Wisconsin was one of the top ten most charitable states in the US. Working together, we can do a lot of good for people impacted by this disaster!

How else can you help? Unless you’re a member of an organization that’s already equipped to feed and house volunteers, it’s probably best not to go to the affected areas. Likewise, material donations are usually not as helpful as money, because they require that overworked relief organizations put more work into organizing them. If you’d like to help in other ways, check out this roundup from NPR.

We hope to see all our friends join us for this fundraiser!
