Giving Back and Having a Blast at Monkey Joe’s!

Posted on Nov 03, 2017

As we head into the holiday season, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the urge to buy, buy, buy. After all, the holidays are all about presents, right? Not a chance! This year, join Monkey Joe’s Waukesha as we learn about the value of community service!

Every day from Wednesday, November 1st to Monday, November 20th, we’re hosting a canned food drive. Bring in a non-perishable food item to donate to Hunger Task Force and get $2 off admission! One donation equals $2 off for one child, so if you’re bringing multiple little monkeys, bring multiple donations as well. You can even let each child pick their own donation at the store!

Volunteering is a great way to learn the value of helping others, refocus on gratitude and family togetherness during this hectic time of year, and encourage kids to feel they can change the world for the better. Your school, church, scout troup, or workplace may have good opportunities. Find easy, fun activities that you can do together to encourage life-long community service in your kids. Consider a charity walk or run (many offer kid-friendly “fun runs” or “tot trot” options), packing non-perishable bagged lunches for the homeless, or donating new or gently used winter clothes to a clothing bank. You can also contact animal shelters, senior centers, and homeless shelters to see what help you and your family can give.

Don’t forget to reward your little monkeys for their volunteer efforts with a trip to Monkey Joe’s Waukesha!
