A Week of Giving Back for Read Across America Day

Posted on Feb 26, 2016

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”- Dr. Seuss

One book, two books, small books, big books! During the month of March, we celebrate the joy of reading with National Reading Month. Parents, teachers, mentors, and students join together to motivate their community to get lost in a book and share their favorite stories with family and friends. Monkey Joe’s in St. Louis, Missouri is doing their part in spreading the love of literacy by celebrating Read Across America Day on Wednesday, March 2nd.

Started by the National Education Association in 1998, Read Across America Day promotes reading in schools, libraries, and community centers across the United States. Celebrated annually on March 2nd, this day also happens to be the birthday of one of our favorite authors, Dr. Seuss. Known for his quirky style of rhyme and storytelling, Dr. Seuss is a staple in the children’s literary world.

During the week of Monday, February 29th through Friday, March 4th, Monkey Joe’s- St. Louis will be collecting books to benefit our local children’s hospital. Bring your little ones in for unlimited playtime and give back to the community at the same time! Visitors that bring in their new or gently used books to donate will receive $2 off admission all week long! All the books that are collected at our Monkey Joe’s- St. Louis and Fairview Heights locations will be sent to St. Louis Children’s Hospital to benefit the children going through treatments there. Help us in sharing the love of a good book with others in our local community.
