Plan a Winter Playdate

Baby, it’s cold outside! While your older kids settle back into the school routine, the younger ones are building up more and more energy. Their siblings might have recess, learning exercises, and time to socialize with their friends, but your toddlers are stuck inside all day. What’s a parent to do when it’s too cold to play outside? Plan a playdate at Monkey Joe’s!

4 Tips for a Better Playdate

Playdates at Monkey Joe’s Kenosha are just what kids need to stay active, socialize, and have fun. Our facilities are indoors, full of adventure, and offer plenty of space for kids to socialize while they bounce and play. Here are a few tips to make your playdate the best that it can be.

  1. Stick to one friend per child. Not only is it harder to keep an eye on a barrelful of monkeys, if you invite more than one friend, you create the risk of someone feeling left out. One-on-one is more fun!
  2. Plan with parents. Some parents like to drop off their kids for a fun afternoon and spend the day checking off their to-do lists. Others prefer to stick around and socialize with other moms (and take advantage of our massage chairs and free wifi). Remember: if you’re relying on another parent to supervise a playdate, be ready to reciprocate in the future.
  3. Coordinate schedules. That doesn’t just mean dropoff and pickup, but also nap times and snacks.
  4. Be flexible. Did your SIL ask to drop off her daughter so she could handle an unexpected work issue? While it’s understandable to say, “Sorry, I can’t do a playdate today,” you’ll get a great reputation if you go with the flow. Try something like, “I’d be happy to watch her today. And maybe you can take the kids tomorrow.” After all, Monkey Joe’s is open 7 days a week!
