How To: Entertain The Kids This Thanksgiving

Posted on Nov 15, 2016

Can you believe Thanksgiving is just a week away? Us either! While it's a relaxing holiday, there's a lot of planning that goes into hosting the family at the house. Whether you're cooking, cutting out coupons or cleaning in preparation, there's a lot to get done! And having kids in the mixture the day of can only add to the stress. So we're providing you with a few tips to help manage the kids on Thanksgiving!

  • Snacks on deck. The kids will be running around all day, so they'll need plenty of snacks to feed those bellies! There's a ton of super creative and easy Thanksgiving recipes for kids to try. Here are a few of our favorites!
  • Kid-proof it. Before all the kids head over, store away any knick knacks that are breakable, hide any medications and put up any gates or close doors you feel necessary. Make sure you also set up a ton of activities to keep them preoccupied, including television, toys, crafts, etc.
  • All kids table. Want the adults and kids to eat separately? They probably do too! Have the kids sit at their own kiddie table, setting it up with cute placemats, crafts and fun silverware and plates. Try downloading these free coloring pages from Monkey Joe's!
  • Use their help. Kids love to feel special and needed. So use that to your advantage! Have them share something they're thankful for before they eat, ask them to help with dishes or suggest that they plan out a skit and act it out for the whole family (like old times)!
  • Get active. The best thing we can advise is to get the kids active! We love the idea of flag football games with the family, cornhole, bocce ball and more. They'll be tuckered out by the end of the day and their stomachs will be nice and full!

We hope all of our Monkey Joe's Kenosha friends and family have a terrific holiday! What's your favorite family tradition on Thanksgiving? Let us know on Facebook and you could be featured on our page!
