Sterling Computer Classes for Kids

Posted on Mar 23, 2016

Do your kids love Minecraft? If so, they'll love the kids computer classes coming up at Monkey Joe's Dulles, hosted by C3 Cyber Club! Register your kids now for this fun, active, and educational after school program right here in Sterling, Virginia.

What to expect from C3 Cyber Club

These classes will teach kids the basics of programming by using a custom mod called "Computercraft." This program allows students to create robots called "Turtles" in the world of Minecraft, developing their problem-solving skills by programming their turtles to mine, build, and craft things in the game.

This activity will teach kids several important programming skills, including:

  • If-then-else statements
  • For-while loops
  • LUA (a scripting language)
  • Bug-finding and trouble-shooting
  • Logic and reasoning
  • Typing skills

In addition to an hour of programming instruction, the kids will get to enjoy an hour of jumping time on our fun inflatable jumps, slides, and obstacles. Jumping, bouncing, climbing, and sliding in our indoor playground is a great way for kids to get their recommended daily 60 minutes of exercise, and they'll be having so much fun they won't even know it's good for them!

If your child has already taken the class, don't worry; there will be new activities for returning students to help them further develop their skills.
