Get Back in the Swing of Things after Winter Break

Ace the First Week Back at School

Do your kids have winter break brain? It’s easy to forget about school during the festivities of the holiday season. Don’t worry. Kids’ brains are like rubber: they’ll bounce right back. In the meantime, follow these Loudoun County back-to-school tips to get back in the swing of things after winter break.

3 Ways to Bounce Back to School after Winter Break

  1. Talk about the memories you made. You went on dozens of adventures with your kids during the holidays. Celebrate them! It’s a great bonding experience, you’ll get a fresh perspective on the holidays, and you may even help your kids with some back-to-school homework (we don’t know about you, but our teachers always assigned What I Did Over Break papers!).
  2. Make a plan and stick to it. After weeks of sleeping in, traveling late at night, and bouncing off the walls because of all of those holiday treats, the best laid plans are sure to go awry! Plan to wake up a little earlier than usual to make it to school on time. Prep lunches and backpacks the night before, and don’t forget to bundle up.
  3. Make time for fun. The first week back after winter break can be hard for kids and parents (and teachers, too!). Make sure to carve out a little extra time after school for something fun. When the weekend finally arrives, swing over to Monkey Joe’s Dulles for a play day to celebrate your successful transition back to school from winter break.
