Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday at Monkey Joe’s Dulles

Join us on Wednesday, March 2nd for another awesome kids event in Sterling: Read Across America Day celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday! 

When it comes to NoVA kids events, we always strive to provide you with fun and exciting things to do with your kids, and we are particularly excited to share this event with you. Last year's special guest storyteller will be joining us again--the famous Cat in the Hat! Bring your kiddos for some bouncy fun as well as story book time to read some of Dr. Seuss's greatest hits. 

Bring a new or gently-used book to donate and we'll give you $2 off admission! 

Wondering what Read Across America Day is all about? Simply put, it's a nationwide reading event observed by thousands of schools, libraries, and other organizations with the purpose of encouraging kids to read! Reading is so important for kids. There are many reasons to make daily reading a part of your family's routine, but here are 3 of the best. 

• Reading is a fundamental skill. Kids who learn to love reading young will be better prepared to succeed in school and in life. Reading to your child increases their vocabulary and communication skills and sets them up for lifetime learning. 
• Reading is quality time. Reading to your child every night is a wonderful tradition that will help you get closer to your child and make some wonderful memories. It's also a great way to pass on treasured memories from your own childhood, by reading classic books that you grew up with. 
• Reading is relaxing. Bedtime stories are a great way to wind-down at the end of a busy day. With the current concerns over how screen time (TV, phones, etc.) affects sleep, it's a great non-screen alternative.
