Birthday Blunders to Avoid

Posted on Jul 28, 2017

Birthday parties are a lot of fun, but they are full of potential landmines. To avoid parent meltdowns, child tantrums, and general disasters that might ruin an otherwise great celebration, here are some birthday party etiquette tips!

Tips for Guests:

  • RSVP. Don’t make the host chase you down to get a clear answer, or guess if you’ll be coming! If your plans change, alert the host as soon as you can.
  • Be on Time. No child wants to sit alone at the beginning of their birthday party. On the other end of the spectrum, no child wants to be stuck waiting for their parents long after the party is over.
  • Offer to Help. Even when parents host a party at Monkey Joe’s Dulles, where we do most of the work for you, a child’s birthday party can seem overwhelming. A sincere offer of help will do a lot to ease the burden on host parents.

Tips for Hosts:

  • Be Specific. Don’t forget to include start and end times, addresses, directions, and a contact number in your invitations!
  • Be Considerate. It’s totally acceptable to only invite your child’s close friends, or limit invitations to a certain number of people, but make sure kids don’t flaunt their party in front of kids who aren’t invited. A Monkey Joe’s party package includes electronic invitations that not only make the process simpler, but also prevents potential embarrassment.
  • Be Aware of Time. Especially when kids are younger and naptimes are still a concern, consider your party’s start and end time carefully. The last thing you want is a meltdown because kids are tired or hungry!

With a little extra effort on everyone’s part, birthday parties can be a ton of fun for everyone. It’s never too early to start planning, so book online or contact Monkey Joe’s today!
