Monkey Joe’s Gives Back for Harvey Relief

Posted on Sep 12, 2017

By now you’ve heard a lot about Hurricane Harvey on the news. Thousands of people and animals in the greater Houston area and beyond are unable to return to their homes due to the incredible flooding and rainfall that this storm brought. Some even have no homes to return to. At Monkey Joe’s Appleton, we believe in giving back, so we’re hosting a fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey relief.

We will be collecting donations at our all through the month of September. At the end of the month, Monkey Joe’s will match every donation 100% and then donate it to the Red Cross. This doubles your donation! Not only that, but since one large donation is often easier and cheaper for non-profit organizations to process than many smaller ones, a fundraiser like this will be that much more effective in the long run.

If you’d like to help in other ways, check out this roundup on NPR. Unless you’re a member of an organization that’s already equipped to feed and house volunteers, it’s probably best not to go to the affected areas. Similarly, material donations are often not as helpful as money, because they mean relief organizations have to spend time organizing them rather than providing relief.

We are constantly inspired by how generous our Monkey Joe’s patrons are--last year Wisconsin was one of the top ten most charitable states in the US. Working together, we can do a lot of good for people impacted by this disaster. How much can we raise for our neighbors in Texas in less than a month? With your help, we know we can make a difference! We hope to see all our friends join us for this Hurricane Harvey fundraiser.
