Summer Party Planning 101

Summer birthday parties can be challenging for several reasons: 

  • Scheduling- Your child's friends may be gone to sleep away camp, taking a family vacation, or otherwise unavailable. 
  • Weather- Between sweltering summer temperatures and surprise afternoon thunderstorms, hosting an outdoor party in the summer can be a risky proposition.

  1. Plan ahead. You know your guests and their families (as well as your own) have a lot going on during the summer, so give them plenty of notice about your party. Two to four weeks is usually standard for kids' parties, but err on the side of more notice rather than less. 
  2. Invite a crowd. Even with plenty of notice, hectic summer schedules mean you will likely end up with at least a few no-shows.
