End of the Year Tips to Help Kids Stay Focused

The end of another school year is upon us, and kids everywhere are practically vibrating with excitement for the coming summer vacation. Let's be honest, most parents and teachers are, too! Of course, everyone has to stick it out until the end of the year, and hopefully learn a thing or two along the way. So how can you encourage focus and concentration at this most distracting of times? We're here to help with some handy tips.

Make sure they're getting plenty of exercise.

Kids who get lots of physical activity every day tend to perform better in school. If your kids aren't getting at least 60 minutes of vigorous exercise each day, make it a priority to get the whole family moving. Play a sport in your backyard, go for a hike, or come to Monkey Joe's and let them bounce around in our inflatables until they're happily exhausted.

Provide an incentive.

Adults and kids alike tend to be more motivated when there's an incentive to strive for, whether it's earning a bonus at work or getting a treat for a stellar report card. Consider offering your kids the chance for a family fun night or a playdate with their friends if they keep up the good work and finish the year strong with good grades and teacher comments. Most kids can't resist the lure of a family pizza dinner and some jumping fun on our inflatables.

Limit distractions

It's easy for all of us to get distracted these days thanks to the many gadgets clamoring for our attention. If your kids are having a hard time buckling down on their schoolwork, you may need to set stricter limits on their screen time. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, excessive media use can cause kids to experience attention problems, behavioral issues, and even eating and sleep disorders.

With a few minor tweaks in your family's routine, your kids can enjoy a happier, healthier end to the school year, and you can all celebrate together at Monkey Joe's!
