Do you have a family full of jokesters? April Fool’s Day can provide a lot of laughs when done right. But as parents know, the line between “funny prank” and “mean joke” is thin, and different for every child. Skip the pranks if you think they may upset your kid.
April Fool’s Day Pranks for Kids
Teach your family how to have good, clean fun with these kid-friendly April Fool’s Day pranks.
- Undrinkable juice. Get jello in the color of your family’s favorite morning juice. Mix it up, pour it in a cup, stick a straw in, and refrigerate overnight. Your kids will have a hard time drinking it at breakfast time!
- Frozen cereal. Don’t have jello on hand? Just pour cereal into your child’s favorite bowl, add some milk, and stick it in the freezer. When your kid tries to eat it in the morning, he’ll find his cereal is rock solid. (Just make sure you don’t use all the cereal. A kid’s gotta eat!)
- All grown up. Want to convince your child she’s getting bigger? Stuff tissue paper in the toes of her shoes. When her shoes seem too small, she’ll think she grew overnight!
- Bed swap. Will your kids sleep through anything? Switch where they’re sleeping in the middle of the night. Cue confusion in the morning!
- Got the blues. Apply a thin layer of blue food gel on the inside rim of the bath faucet. When your child turns it on for bath time, she’ll get surprise blue bathwater.
What’s an April fools that never falls flat? The good old fashioned, “We’re going somewhere boring” prank. When you arrive at Monkey Joe’s instead, make sure you’re ready with a camera to capture the excitement on your kids’ faces! That one’s going on Facebook.
