Time flies when you're having fun, so it's no wonder parents and kids alike are wondering "Where did the summer go?" Whether your kids have already headed back to school or are enjoying the last gasp of summer, they may be experiencing the back to school blues. Fortunately you can help them start the year strong with these tips.

Get in the groove

It can be a challenge for kids and adults alike to adjust to the school year schedule of early to bed, early to rise after a summer of vacation and a more leisurely routine. Setting a bedtime and sticking to a schedule can make a big difference, ensuring your kids are well-rested and ready to learn when they head to class.

Foster friendships

The changes of a new school year are exciting, but they can also be a bit stressful for some kids. If your child is worried about new classmates, new teachers, and new routines, having some other kids they know can make the whole experience less intimidating. Consider planning a playdate with your child's new classmates to help them break the ice and forge new friendships. A visit to Monkey Joe's is a great way for the kids to get to know each other in a relaxed, fun environment so they are more comfortable in the classroom when school begins.

Make time for movement

Regular exercise is important for kids' physical health, but did you know that getting enough exercise can also benefit your child's mental health? According to a recent study, children who engaged in higher levels of physical activity had lower levels of stress reactivity than their less active peers. Encourage your kids to get moving by making exercise fun, whether you head to the local swimming pool, go on a family hike, or come to Monkey Joe's where your kids can run wild in our bouncy indoor playgrounds, rain or shine.

Good luck, and here's to a great school year for your whole family!
